Team Liquid have picked up an entirely new Dota 2 roster after acquiring the whole former Alliance team
Team Liquid have picked up an entirely new Dota 2 roster after acquiring the whole former Alliance team. The new lineup will be Michael “miCKe” Vu, Maximilian “qojqva” Bröcker, Samuel “Boxi” Svahn, Tommy “Taiga” Le and Aydin “iNSaNiA” Sarkohi.
There was a history of temporary turmoil with Liquid’s Dota 2 roster after Lasse “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen was sidelined in June. After he was asked to leave the team, the entire roster followed him.
Following the acquisition, Liquid officially announced the news, which included a Twitter post that read: “We’re Back. Welcome, @iNsan1a @mickeDOTA @qojqva1 @boxi98 and @Taigadota #LetsGoLiquid”.
The majority of the former Alliance team plied their trade in Heroes of Newerth. So much so that, apart from qojqva, the roster began their competitive careers with Heroes of Newerth. INSaNiA and miCKe soon began two of the top-earning players in HoN.
Alliance quickly picked up this roster after failing to qualify for The International 7. There was further failure to come as Alliance failed to qualify for TI8. But their perseverance paid off as they made it to TI9.
Alliance had a sub-par beginning to their TI history, failing to make it past the first round of TI9, which included a drafting error from captain iNSaNiA.
Team Liquid are one of the biggest names in esports, with a rich Dota2 history including a TI title. After a relatively quiet few years in Dota on the big stage, Liquid now have the capability and the skill in personnel to start pushing for glory in high-profile tournaments with the acquisition of the Alliance roster. Abundance of capital and resources will help the young ex-Alliance team mature quickly as well.
